Thankful Tuesday

Despite our province being declared under Signal No. 4 at the height of super typhoon Yolanda, we didn’t suffer much damage compared to the other eastern parts of the Visayas such as Leyte and Samar. This is why I am so teary-eyed and thankful to wake up the next day still alive and still have a roof above my head.

During the storm, I noticed that the wind was a bit restrained within our yard, as if an invisible force was shielding our house from the super typhoon’s forces. We were even able to grill food outside our kitchen. Even our doggies calmly took shelter under the tables, they didn’t sleep in an elevated dog bed but still they were comfy and happily wagging their tails upon seeing us. Just goes to show that they were brave enough during the storm.

The day after, my dad assessed the damage outside – seven palms were torn down from one of the coconut trees in our front yard. Two hanging Christmas star lanterns also met their fate and were flung down to the terrace floor by Yolanda. Aside from few stems and leaves littering our yard, there was no considerable damage within our home. Thank you Lord.
