Technically-challenged grandma? Not anymore!

At past 70 years of age, and a grandma of 8, I’m a senior citizen indeed, and proudly so! A civil engineer by profession, and “forced” to have learned the computer by circumstance having been conducting Computer-aided Seminars on Structural Analysis and Design, and Computer-aided Seminars on Project Management too, I could pass for a technical person. Or so I thought, until recently when I had to switch to a smartphone, i.e. one with a touch screen for its keypad. Using its phone feature was not really that difficult, and although I have post-paid unlimited calls, sending text messages cannot be avoided at times.

It is in this messaging feature where I became “technically challenged”; I experienced the difficulty in using my touch phone! You mean to pick this letter, and lo, it would go to that letter! Worst thing, even before I could delete what’s wrong, a not-intended word would appear by its auto-complete feature. This automated feature is supposed to make one’s messaging easier and faster, but for poor me, it was sooo exasperating! I had more to delete, and to correct! In fact, I had this feature incapacitated so I could just proceed on my own without this supposed-to-be help, and I’m happier for this.

Thanks to the patience of my techie daughter, I have learned many of my phone’s other features, and through practice of the knowledge imparted to me, I have now adapted, and in fact, appreciated my new touch mobile phone. 🙂
