Sunday by the sea

Last Sunday, we had this chance to visit one of those small houses built by the sea, in between the two bridges connecting the cities of Mandaue in Cebu island and Lapu-lapu in Mactan island – the first bridge on the left side and the new bridge on the right. Most of these houses are made of light materials (nipa, bamboo, wood), though some used concrete for their foundation and other parts of their houses. These houses are interconnected by wooden planks which serve as bridges and the sides are decorated with flowers and plants on pots.

These seaside abodes look so tiny as seen by motorists when driving along the bridge. We stayed there until dusk and I had fun watching some boats passing by and the birds hovering over the water and snooping down speedily to catch some fish. Here are a few of those idyllic scenes that lazy Sunday afternoon.

A big ship passing under the bridge

This looks like a sightseeing boat

  A fast-ferry breezed by a lonely boat

A solitary bird in flight (finally I was able to capture one of them with the cam)
