On furniture shopping

Whenever I’m window shopping or simply strolling around a mall, my feet would always find their way to the furniture section – yep, it’s one of my favorite places inside a department store. I’m always fascinated with the different designs and styles, and particularly the function that comes with a wardrobe, a bedside table, a double-deck bed or even a shoe cabinet. Maybe, I’ve been influenced by my Dad who’s into carpentry as one of his hobbies and we’re proud of his accomplishments – the beds, cabinets, our dining table, my closet and study desk with shelves (Thanks Dad!).

Well, it sure is fun roaming through the furniture showrooms but it also makes one easily tired with walking through all the stuff. And sometimes, the measurements are not given on the labels, along with other important information about the product. So, shopping for furniture online is a great option for those who intend to buy or just look around without the hassle of leaving the comforts of their homes.

I like browsing over and doing some online window shopping for stylish furniture at furniture websites, particularly those with simple and straightforward design of their home pages. This makes it quite easy to navigate around – immediately displaying links to the main areas of a house – bedroom, living room, dining room, and furnishings for the office, for kids, for entertainment – so site visitors are easily guided. Most furniture websites also offer a wide range of styles for area rugs – floral, contemporary, kids, neo-classic and many more. Some even have cabinets and organizers for garage storage. I browsed through the living room stuff of one website and I think the design of the Sparta sectional sofa is just right for our home. I just don’t know if my Mom agrees with me. 🙂

  2. Raine: i also love the houseware section…
your dream house? i’m kinda curious how it looks like? modern and minimalist, or maybe like a spanish villa?
Tin-tin: oo nga… it’s cool to have your own place. that’s my dream too.

  3. me, too. it’s fun to imagine a room where a particular furniture would go well, and match it with other props (curtains, hangings, lamps, wallpaper, carpet, etc.)

  4. @carey:you’ve just given me an idea on what to blog about hehehe bitaw, i want a simple house near a body of water, the sea or a lake

  5. hmmmm u include me here 🙂 so may I sneak in? : Sure, the style of the upholstery can fit into our corner sala set, which has to be “renovated” to leave the structure holding the sofas – the narra wood with carvings, which are matched with the carvings of the octagonal center table. To give justice to your Dad who refurbished this “center piece” back to its original beauty, I wish you could show this in one of your future posts….They will understand more what we are talking about, right friends? 🙂 ……mom

  6. Onyxx: yup, designing the interior of a home is fun, that’s why I love reading home magazines and browsing some new designs for home accessories… some modern designs not only look good, they’re also comfy and very functional.
Raine: sure, I’d like to know what your dream house looks like. 🙂
Mom: hi Mom! sure, you’re welcome any time… I’ll try to show that center table in my future posts. 😉
