Moving on after the holidays

It’s time to say my goodbyes to some of the symbols of the Christmas season that just ended. These meaningful things which grace our home every Christmas are part of what makes the season special for our family:

Chistmas tree
The Christmas tree with its blinking lights and trimmings

Advent wreath
The Advent wreath in our living room center table

Christmas Belen
The Christmas Belen or the Nativity scene which we placed above the rock garden

Christmas candle
The Christmas candle as the centerpiece in our dining table

As I take out the trimmings and keeping them inside boxes for safekeeping, I realized it is similar to the process of saying goodbye to the past year and moving on to newer pages in the book of our life’s journey.

very artistic man diay ka carr, can u give a workshop for me? cheers to you all-year-round!

Lazarus: yup kung pwede lang, I also want to put on the christmas lights every day. It’s kinda relaxing to see those those blinking lights.

Jeanette: girly ba diay? hehehe… Mom and I arranged all the trimmings except for the Belen which was courtesy of Dad.

keeping them away is the hard part, but for me, it is symbolic–it will then be a fresh start–happy new year!

Sarah: I even forgot to put away the Christmas songs in my playlist… was surprised to hear one of them played kanina, hehehe…
