How to prepare Graviola Tea (Sour Sop/Guyabano/Babana)

Health drinks are becoming popular in the market nowadays. Here’s a potent one you can prepare at home, that is, if you have a Graviola tree planted in your backyard, otherwise you can simply buy Graviola products online to avoid the hassles of tea preparation. 😉

Graviola is available and sold in various forms – as tea bags, capsules, leaves and more.

There’s really no exact procedure on how to prepare Graviola Tea aka Sour Sop (Guyabano or Babana in local dialect). The process I’ll be sharing here is simply a combination of what I’ve read from the Internet and also from our family friend who was the one who introduced to us the habit of drinking boiled Graviola leaves as a natural remedy for diabetes, hypertension, dysmenorrhoea, stomach ache and other medical conditions.

Additional Information for Graviola Tea Preparation

Some sources advise on drinking the Graviola tea within 8 hours, while others practice storing some of the boiled liquid in the refrigerator and heating it before drinking. We used to keep the liquid in the ref, as it is quite tiresome to boil regularly, but after reading some sources saying that the tea loses its potency after 8 hours, we decided to immediately consume within the specified time limit whatever we prepare just to be sure.

The liquid is basically tasteless. You can add sugar or sweetener, lemon, calamansi and other flavor enhancers if you wish. My mom prepares her Graviola tea in style. 😉 She doesn’t drink it plain like I do, instead she adds two teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) and sugar for a sweet drink with a hint of sour taste.

Few days ago, I had heartburn and it was causing much discomfort and pain. Fortunately, there was extra boiled liquid in the pot. I drank about 2 mugs and felt relieved of the pain within half-hour. Yes, it really works.

Yes, you should try it as a natural home remedy… most over-the-counter drugs have side effects.

I am truly amazed by this graviola tea. It is really potent. Isn’t it? It is easy to prepare and you don’t have to pay for it. All you have to do is plant it in your backyard and you will gain a healthy body.

I am so lucky to live in a place where graviola (soursop for us) grows all year round! I did not know how to prepare the tea and I thank this site for letting me know.
I like the taste but I add a teaspoon of local honey and it becomes a very pleasant drink. I am testing if it works for my sleeping problems.
Has anybody tried it for insomnia? Please let me know.

I know someone using it and prepare like what is written in the blog.. but they prepare the tea with dry leaves, in our area in the dessert.. they get those leaves from other countries and store it and as a result it becomes dryed in time…. is their any nutrients still if they use dryed and even in its decomposing stage like fungus white thing found.. they just rinse and boiled it then drink.
