College days were the most memorable for me. Those were difficult times for our family, so I had to study harder than when I was in high school in order to get a scholarship and help with the tuition fees. My siblings and I were academic scholars which really helped our family financially that time.
During my college life, my friends and I not only had time together for studying and doing assignments, we also took time visiting each other’s boarding house, have our snacks at the canteen or simply unwind under the trees. I can just remember how our chitchats used to be, and now, looking at some of my dear college friends in social media, it makes me daydream of those years.
One thing that I regret though was losing my precious college ring. It was just a simple petite ring with engravings, but it was made of solid gold. I lost it on a taxi going to work, when I took it off and forgot to wear it back. Arrrggghhh… such a waste! In our school, it was customary for college students in their 5th year to have their Ringhop Ceremony, where they go through a big decorative ring on stage and a special person puts the ring on them.
There are so many beautiful college rings nowadays, usually designed with the school emblem, engravings or birthstone. Browsing through Joy Jewelers college rings, I’m sure college students would be inspired to have one of these beautifully designed rings that they can customize according to their personal preferences. I am not familiar with other colleges about the Ringhop tradition though, or if they consider buying college rings to commemorate their college achievement.
Personally, wearing a college ring is a person’s pride as it symbolizes an important milestone. It signifies transition, that one has reached an important status in life, having graduated from college and about to become a professional.
