Last week I was motivated to do a bit of cleaning at home to extend my working space. I started clearing my other desk as I was planning to make it as an extra table for use by whoever will assist me in my tasks. So, I began cleaning and clearing up the shelves and discovered, to my dismay, a messy little trail of soil sticking to the wall behind the books. Ugh! We all know what caused such a disappointing sight and the pesky little wriggly white pests were all over my old diary and consumed many pages already. We immediately took it outside and cleaned up the soiled wall and shelves. My excitement of having a clean desk in an instant faded as I realized I cannot use it within the day as I wanted to.
The next day, my handyman dad took out our do it yourself pest control and bombarded the affected areas with enough solution to keep them away, at least for some time. I really hope we can have the budget for a full pest control system for our house. For now, I try to keep regular check of the affected area for some new traces of pest attack. I also moved my books and paper documents to another cabinet, and placed instead some plastic containers and other non-paper materials. Dealing with pest attacks is another addition to my list of work-at-home distractions.

I recommend using an insecticide with a low toxicity and with friendly co-formulants but with a wide spectrum of use.
