Dream guitar

Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Switchfoot songs, particularly from their 2005 album Nothing is Sound. I love most of the songs in this album, but Setting Sun is one song that I can’t help singing along to. I even had to find the lyrics online, just so I can sing my heart out with it, the lyrics speak about finding hope amidst feeling down or being burnt out, that earthly life is just temporary and “It won’t be long, I belong somewhere past the setting sun, finally free, finally strong, somewhere back where I belong.” I just wish I have my guitar with me so I can play along with such a cool song as well.

Speaking about my guitar, I bought it many eons ago in Cebu; it’s an acoustic one, with a medium-size build, very apt for ladies. Now it’s not with me though, I lent it to one of our community prayer groups as they need it for their weekly meetings. I’m thankful that it’s recently been repaired by an expert musician-technician in our community.

With my guitar already refurbished I still dream of getting a new one though. I know some guitar enthusiasts dream of getting a brand new Fender Stratocaster, but for me, just a simple acoustic guitar would do, as long as it’s of good quality. I inquired from the expert about which acoustic guitar brands are good; he said it really depends on the one playing it. But with my insistence on getting his opinion about which brand gives out the best sound, he mentioned Gibson or Yamaha, which costs from Php5000 to Php7000. So now, I’m on dream mode again and imagining myself playing and strumming my new guitar, singing along to my favorite Switchfoot songs. 😉
