Doing research on technical products/services

I used to work as part of the quality assurance team in a telecommunications company and our department’s focus is on testing and evaluating different products before they are being accepted for use in our network. There would be lots of suppliers sending in their quotes for a project’s requirements and sometimes the task of researching and choosing which is which can be really tough especially when there are deadlines to beat. Anyway, that’s really part of the job.

For those who need help with deciding on a lot of factors such as the company background and the quality of products, they can browse over at Zycon and request for quotes from a lot of companies including the details and specifications which can be sent as attachments. For instance, a search on electric motors returns a list of related companies carrying this product with their contact info, product info and a link to request a quote. There’s also a brief information or description about the product or service (in this case, electric motors) and links to additional information and forum discussion about the product. A search can also be filtered according to product/service, company or the required keyword.

The Zycon home page lists all products/services in alphabetical order for easy searching with links to their technology blog, forum, announcements and relevant sites. These sure would save up a lot of time rather than individually visiting each of the companies’ websites. This process makes sorting and comparing easier, thus deciding on a company or product is more organized.
