Some Cebu updates

Arrived last Friday in Cebu safe and sound! The road trip through the mountains of Don Salvador Benedicto was fine though there were still some rocky areas. I was feeling queasy and so tired, since I slept only for an hour the day before, so I wasn’t able to see the great view of the mountains – not even the jeepney that turned upside down on the roadside. I woke up when we reached the port of San Carlos. The trip on the barge was great coz we just rested in the van – sleeping again! hehehe…

Anyway, good news for travellers, the road from Toledo to Cebu city is great…they’re already well-paved and no more dust! Another great improvement is the new South Coastal Road (from Talisay city to Plaza Independencia) aka SRP (South Reclamation Project). It is open to the public and very much a big help for motorists who want to avoid the traffic. Interesting to note is the on-going construction of Cebu’s Malacaรฑang palace by the seaside. We wanted to go inside and have some snooping but there’s a sign which says, “Restricted Area”.

This evening, we went cruising along Cebu city and went to the IT Park in Lahug, and my oh my, nightlife in Cebu is really bustling. Also had dinner at Yellow Cab Pizza at the BTC (Banilad Town Center) and afterwards just went around the place which have some coffee shops, restaurants and bars. So cool… shucks, we don’t have these in our ‘bukid‘, hhehehe… I’m missing on a lot of the good life Cebu has to offer!

By the way, this afternoon, after hearing my craving for banana split, my sis-in-law told me it’s so easy to make, so we stopped by a grocery store to buy lakatan (my fave variety of banana), a half gallon of ice-cream, Hershey’s chocolate syrup and a small box of cereals. When we arrived home, I immediately cut the banana in half, put three scoops in a row, placed the two banana halves on the sides, made a criss-cross of the chocolate syrup over it, and sprinkled some cereals. yummy!
